Many individuals who follow the Nutritarian diet write to Dr. Fuhrman about their success. Keep in mind that results vary from person to person. As always, consult your physician if you have a medical history and/or condition that may warrant individual recommendations.
Peg stopped taking blood pressure medication after only two weeks on the program
In November 2011 my blood pressure spiked. I had been taking blood pressure medication for many years and did not want to increase it. I thought I had been eating a healthy diet, since I was trying to limit salt. My doctor said there was something else I could try, Dr. Fuhrman's Eat To Live diet style. He explained the science behind the diet and I started the next day after buying the book. In just two weeks my blood pressure dropped and instead of increasing my medication I was able to drop them completely.
My husband also adopted the Nutritarian diet, dropped almost 30 pounds and is no longer pre-diabetic. After following Eat To Live for over a year, we are both amazed at how good we feel. I no longer have constant sinus congestion and headaches and am now hopeful that I can have an impact on my genetics. My parents both lived to around 90, but their last years were not healthy ones. My mother suffered from a heart attack, multiple strokes and dementia. She was confined to a wheel chair in a nursing home for almost five years without being able to clearly speak or feed herself. I now have hope that my end of life experience will not be the same. The change in what I eat has left me with a new joy for life and the future, instead of the dread of following in my parents footsteps. And our tastes have changed. Now when hungry we crave vegetables. Go figure!
