After a lifetime of “yo-yo” dieting Vaz lost 151 pounds and no longer feels he is on his way to a heart attachk
I watched 3-Steps to Incredible Health on PBS and it started me on my way to lose 151 pounds. I had no actual target weight, just to shed the pounds naturally by eating properly. My main goal is to attend my 6-year-old daughter’s 50th birthday party in good health, at which time I will be 96 years old. I have blood tests to show how healthy I am now, but, unfortunately, I was too embarrassed by my obesity to have a blood test done before my weight loss. However, I'm sure I was on my way to a heart attack. I now have an LDL of 62 and an overall cholesterol level of 138 mg/dl.
My life's work is now to spread the message of nutritional eating. I am planning a lecture tour of senior centers and schools to spread the word and educate others on the health benefits of a healthy diet coupled with moderate exercise. I heard Dr. Fuhrman's message and it made sense to me, so I began to follow much of his advice. I try to view his talks often, and each time I learn something new and important. My second blood test was at the one year mark, after I started on this high-nutrient eating plan, and I had my vitamin D level tested as well. My vitamin D level was 40 ng/ml, without supplementation, and only supported by healthy food. I really would like to thank Dr. Fuhrman in person someday. I often call him “my mentor” and want him to know that he is one of the main factors in my life's change.
I have been a yo-yo dieter all my life since I was 12 years old; with ups, and downs and more periods of obesity than fitness. In fact, twenty three times I have lost over 50 pounds, at least three times approximately 100 pounds, but this time it is for real and is totally sustainable. Each and every day I look forward to creating more and more recipes. I want to share my foods with others in the hope that they will see the light. Thanks again. I will just add I actually have lost another 20 pounds since the last picture was taken. I am approximately 7 percent body fat at this point and, at the age of 53, I have unlimited energy.
