Growing up we ate three times a day at the dinner table. My diet was meat and potatoes with lots of desserts, not many salads, some veggies and I had to clean my plate because of all the “starving children in China.” As an adult I had a hard time keeping my weight under control and tried a lot of diets,Stillman, Adkins, Long Beach, etc. You lose weight but gain it back and it affects your heart. Dr. Fuhrman’s Nutritarian diet is the best. I had a heart attack and bought Dr. Fuhrman’s book The End of Heart Disease and it has changed my life around 100 percent! I read his book and started the vegan diet and lost 90 pounds in 2-1/2 years. Starting the diet is not difficult, it is just knowing how to prepare meals. Having a heart attack gives you a lot of motivation. Seeing the weight come off, and getting off my medications was a big plus for me. I sleep better, have a better attitude about life, I can go hiking and skiing again.
My doctors had not heard of Dr. Fuhrman, but were very impressed with my weight loss. My family is very supportive of my life style change and are reading his books. My life today has its ups and downs, but I feel much better than 2-1/2 years ago. I feel better and a lot healthier. Being a vegan now for two years is the only way to live! Dr. Fuhrman’s e-mail recipes are a big help.
