Place blueberries, dates and 1 cup of the water in a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until berries start to burst. Transfer to a high-powered blender, along with the basil, ginger and lemon zest. Blend until very smooth. Add remaining 4 cups of water and fresh lemon juice to the pitcher. Refrigerate until cool. Serve with ice.
