Mike's Story

Mike lost 60 pounds, no longer needs daily insulin injections or any medication for diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure

At age 49 I was afraid I was going to be dead before my 50th birthday. I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2009 and put on six shots of insulin a day, two oral diabetes medications, two high blood pressure medications, one cholesterol medication and two different pain medications.

Many years ago I was also diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis and ADHD. I was in pain every day and was always tired from my abnormal blood sugars and all medications I was taking. I was a massive 298 pounds heading for 300. I was able to lose twenty pounds and thought I would lose more; that never happened. For nearly three years, I couldn't even walk or exercise without losing my breath or be in a great deal of pain. I was getting sicker and sicker every day.

I saw Dr Fuhrman's PBS special and bought Eat To Live. I read it cover to cover in a matter of hours. I absorbed everything and it all made perfect sense to me. I cleaned out my cabinets and went shopping for all of the foods in my Eat To Live food bible. In a weeks’ time I had to stop most of my insulin shots and oral medications because my blood level were getting too low.

I started having more energy and felt better than I had in years. The weight started falling off and I was able to start swimming and then walking; things I could never do before without constant pain. Today, eight weeks later from starting my journey, I take an occasional Ibuprofen and I'm off all of my other meds. My blood levels are completely normal and my pain and fatigue are virtually gone. I'm sixty pounds lighter and never felt or looked better in my life. My goal is to get below 200 pounds by my 50th birthday and I'm currently 215 pounds. I have no doubt I will reach that goal. Thanks to Dr. Fuhrman for literally saving my life!
