Teresa's Story

Teresa follows Eat To Live  to stay healthy now and in the future

My story is probably unlike the majority of people that follow the Eat To Live lifestyle.  For many, their goal is to lose weight. On the flip side, my goal is to not only maintain my current weight, but to gain healthy, muscular weight as I eat healthfully and exercise regularly.  The Nutritarian diet is not just for obese people that are looking to shed pounds; it is for anyone that wants a healthier body, mind, and lifestyle, despite their body type.

When I began my Eat To Live journey in September 2012,  I  thought I was eating healthfully, but after reading Eat To Live and attending a  Dr. Fuhrman's Immersion weekend, I learned how unhealthy my diet was.  I replaced all of the unhealthy food in my apartment with food that helped me follow the Eat To Live plan. It is much easier to eat healthfully when your only options are healthy food choices.

After committing to the holiday challenge, I suffered from headaches for about a week and also craved the food that I had so often enjoyed; especially breakfast I Loved eating omelets, bacon, bagels with cream cheese, anything with cheese, eggs, etc. Breakfast was certainly my favorite meal of the day and the most difficult to change.

Since then, I no longer suffer from headaches and feel a lot better overall.  Recently I was away from my home for a weekend and had a SAD breakfast. After eating it, I immediately had a headache and I could feel the difference in my body. I was experiencing the exact opposite of what I had undergone previously. It was amazing.  My body was rejecting the SAD breakfast and I had a headache because of it, when months ago, I suffered from headaches without it.  I don't think anyone else would have been as joyful to have a headache as I was. It meant that my body has become accustomed to the Eat To Live diet and no longer accepted anything less.

I always bring my breakfast and lunch to work. When coworkers look into my large cooler they say, "look at all that healthy food! I don't have time for that." I make time to prepare healthy foods because it is what my body craves and enjoys. It is good for me in the present and will benefit me in the future. They also look at the amount of food that I bring in my cooler and cannot believe that I eat so much while being so small. They have so much to learn.

When I started the Eat To Live diet, I lost about five pounds and that weight was mostly in my stomach.  Since I eat more salads and green vegetables now than I used to. I make a conscious effort to consume enough healthy calories to maintain my current weight of about 95 pounds and I continue to exercise several times a week. Since I am on my feet all day, (I am a third grade teacher) I keep track of my steps and my calories with a FitBit. That way, I can make conscious decisions to consume more calories than what my body is burning each day.

Eating out at a restaurant has become more of a pain rather than a treat. Now I enjoy preparing healthy foods at home and regularly invite friends and family members over to my apartment to share my Eat To Live meals. It saves me money and has benefits my health. It is helping benefit their health, too.

Like exercise, eating healthfully isn't just a New Year's resolution; it's a lifestyle. This lifestyle is not just intended for those that are committed to losing weight. It is also for petite, active people that are committed to a healthier, happier, better life and not just for the present time, but for the future as well.

Results may vary.
