At the Dr. Fuhrman Wellness Center, we offer a number of health screening services that provide you—and your doctors—with measureable insights into the current state of your health. This allows us to formulate a targeted nutritional treatment plan to safeguard your health, and reverse and prevent disease.
We offer the following health screenings:
ONCOblot can confirm presence, origin of cancer cells
ONCOblot is a simple blood test that uses a biomarker to determine whether cancerous cells are present in the body. It detects a protein called ENOX2, which is shed from the surface of cancer cells into the circulation. ENOX2 is only present in the blood if cancerous cells are present in the body. The test can detect the presence of cancer as early as Stage 0—approximately 2 million cells, the size of a pinhead. By contrast, mammograms can only detect tumors made up of several billion cells, so the standard diagnosis made with mammogram happens late, more than 10 years after the cancer began. ONCOblot also pinpoints the tissue of origin, which tells us what type of cancer is present and allows us to initiate an effective nutritional protocol with ongoing surveillance to document results.
How does it work?
The test can be ordered only by a physician. Call the Dr. Fuhrman Wellness Center and make an appointment for a consultation with Jay Benson, D.O. During that session, your blood will be drawn and the ONCOblot test kit will be sent to the laboratory for analysis. Results will be delivered to the office in approximately 15 business days. If the results are negative, there is no need for another visit. If the results are positive, you will need to schedule a follow-up appointment with Dr. Benson or Dr. Fuhrman, to discuss the next investigative steps and recommend a targeted nutritional and supplement treatment plan to fight early stage cancer, based on your results.
Should I have this test?
ONCOblot can detect both the presence and origin of cancer cells at the earliest stages, using a single blood test. For example, this test allows breast cancer to be detected approximately 10 years before a mammogram would become positive—and, at an early enough stage where nutrition would have a more powerful impact. This non-invasive and highly accurate test can be used by anyone who is at risk of developing cancer, to confirm the results of other cancer screening tests, or for tracking their progress after treatment for cancer.
The ONCOblot test is currently used:
What good is early detection of cancer?
Early detection does not usually save lives because of the failure of modern medical care to offer an safe and effective intervention when people have early cancers. However, Dr. Fuhrman has clinical evidence and experience that shows that his nutritional protocol is effective at reversing early stage cancers, and Dr. Ornish has demonstrated the same with early stage prostate cancer. Plus, a recent study has shown that the majority of these early-diagnosed cancer are reversible with supplemental regimens designed for this purpose. Once you wait for traditional diagnostic modalities, then nutrition is of less value, and too often the window for nutritional reversal has been lost.
Also, because the majority of people do NOT follow a Nutritarian approach strictly enough, a positive test can be a tremendous motivator for the individual to adopt a more aggressive nutritional approach. Just like detecting high blood pressure or high cholesterol, the identification of risk is an opportunity for a person to fix their unhealthy lifestyle and prolong their life. We have established an effective protocol for these individuals, that will save lives, and help them avoid needless and invasive medical tests and treatment for cancer.
The Nutritional Research Foundation is funding a long-term, large-scale study with Northern Arizona University to document the effectiveness of this approach for preventing and reverse early stage breast cancer. See more information at nutritionalresearch.org.

A Health Screening Triad provides you with insights into your current health status and measurable results that can serve as a benchmark from which to track your progress. This information is far beyond what a body weight scale can give you. The screenings are fast, noninvasive, painless, and there is no need to disrobe, other than momentarily removing your shoes and socks. You will receive your results at the end of the Health Screening Triad, as well as a copy of Dr. Fuhrman’s Nutritarian Handbook and other reading materials.
The Health Screening Triad consists of:
The Cardiovascular Screening provides an IMT (intima-media thickness) scan and EndoTherm test to evaluate cardiovascular health. This unique combination of noninvasive tests quickly provides an accurate method for predicting the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
Measuring your IMT is a useful way of screening for arterial disease using ultrasound technology, and is especially useful for monitoring changes. It is primarily recommended for those who are at a higher risk of having plaque on their arteries (people who are overweight or have diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol), but this test can be utilized by anyone. It is used for its ability to generally assess arterial health and plaque burden in your body. It is noninvasive, and causes no pain or discomfort. It is especially useful to monitor your IMT score every 1-2 years to determine if your condition is improving or worsening over time.
The Endotherm test measures endothelial function, which is the function of the innermost layer of your arteries. This test measures how flexible this layer is. Those who have less flexible arteries are more likely to have arterial disease (plaque).
The Cardiovascular Screening is offered every other month, typically on the second Wednesday of that month, and an appointment must be scheduled in advance to receive the screening.
Please call the medical office at (908) 237-0200 to schedule your appointment.
These convenient home screening tests may be used to confirm adequate levels of essential nutrients in the blood or test other health parameters without doctor visits or blood draws.
Tests may be purchased from this website, self-administered in the comfort of your home, then mailed to the appropriate location for processing. Results will be sent to Dr. Fuhrman Medical Associates and then mailed to you.
