Many individuals who follow the Nutritarian diet write to Dr. Fuhrman about their success. Keep in mind that results vary from person to person. As always, consult your physician if you have a medical history and/or condition that may warrant individual recommendations.
Shannon lost 20 pounds and is converting her grown children to following the Eat To Live lifestyle
In my forties I started gaining weight and hit 156 pounds. I was premenopausal and my thyroid was out of whack. My cholesterol started creeping up as did my blood sugar numbers. I have diabetes on both sides of my family and hypertension on my mother's side. I tried working out and changing my diet, but nothing seemed to help.
Unfortunately, I was involved in an accident and it took me out of the workplace for about eighteen months. I was in a wheelchair, then a walker, then crutches and had several operations during the recovery period. After I recovered I hired a personal trainer. He taught me to add more greens to every meal. I ate broccoli, Brussel sprouts, cabbage, etc., but not in the qualities my trainer suggested. Salads became a larger part of my meals. With the weight training and the diet change I weighed 136 pounds.
I continued to exercise and increase my green intake, but my weight starting going back up. I was back to 150 pounds. Then I saw Dr. Fuhrman's PBS program. What he said made sense. I immediately purchased his book. I was so thankful for the variety of recipes. My husband and I did the six week challenge. I was surprised when my weight returned to 136 pounds. It seemed so effortless. During the last year I have been doing lots of traveling out of the USA. I try to follow the diet as best as possible while traveling on the road. I am maintaining my weight at 136 pounds with a goal of reaching 124 pounds.
The real reason I am writing this story is this. I have four children and we told them about the Eat To Live diet and gave them all the book. My oldest son, who is forty lost weight; is working out and now is running marathons. My 34 year old daughter did the six seek challenge. She lost forty pounds and continues to lose and is very happy with this life change. My second daughter, who is 32, lost thirty five pounds and continues to lose. My fourth child is not on the diet, but seeing the change in his sibling’s lives is working on eating better, and I am sure one day will become an Eat To Live devotee. I am happy to say our family has converted to the Eat To Live way.
We have given Eat To Live to other family and friends. They too are losing weight and making positive progress in their life. I am glad to finally have found a book that goes into detail and has recipes that work in everyday life. I subscribe to Dr. Fuhrman just to get more recipes. Thanks to Dr. Fuhrman for making this knowledge available to the general public. It gives the public guidance to make healthy food choices.
