Many individuals who follow the Nutritarian diet write to Dr. Fuhrman about their success. Keep in mind that results vary from person to person. As always, consult your physician if you have a medical history and/or condition that may warrant individual recommendations.
Diane's 20 pound weight loss ended years of yo-yo dieting, fasting and binging
At age 17, I was diagnosed with a goiter and treated with radioactive iodine. Doctors told me there would be a period of adjustment before my metabolism stabilized. I gained about 20 pounds after the treatment and became very self-conscious. I tried many diets: low-carb, liquid protein, weight-watchers, fasting, etc., only to gain even more weight than I lost. I was always fasting then binging. I was able to sustain my weight at 155 pounds for many years, but that is considered overweight for a 5ft. 6in. woman.
Then, in June 2011, I happened to be channel surfing and paused on the Boston PBS station. There was a doctor talking so passionately about diet (he even looked healthy) so I listened. I hung on his every word and asked myself could this be my answer, or is it too good to be true? I didn't want to fall in the pit of failure again. I was obsessed with what foods to eat and totally confused by the media. After reading Eat To Live, and following the plan I lost 20 pounds. Dr. Fuhrman did his homework with evidence-based nutrition and practices what he preaches. I really enjoy reading excerpts from Dr. Fuhrman's books and following his recipes. Thank you Dr. Fuhrman. I owe you more than I can give you.
