Many individuals who follow the Nutritarian diet write to Dr. Fuhrman about their success. Keep in mind that results vary from person to person. As always, consult your physician if you have a medical history and/or condition that may warrant individual recommendations.
Joy's cholesterol went down and her energy went up
This is amazing. I have always been slim, and my diet was what most people would consider angelic. Yet my cholesterol was as high as 297 without statins and dropped to 202 when I followed Dr. Furhman's guidelines.
My energy is great and I now weigh 120 pounds, very close to Dr. Furhman's 119 ideal for someone my height 5ft. 6in. In the first three months, my cholesterol dropped 49 points, to 248. Then I eliminated packaged breakfast cereals and most bread. Most of all, I started working harder to follow Dr.Furhman's food pyramid. Eating 300 to 400 calories a day worth of veggies is challenging, but it gets easier all the time. Now this way of eating seems tastier and more filling.
I start the day with flax and banana and another fruit. My lunch is typically frozen veggies that have been water-sauteed and doused in a healthy sauce, and fruit for dessert. Dinner is often a big salad and tofu, with another fruit for dessert. I look forward to new recipes every day and just invented one of my own. I chop up a head of cauliflower, add soy, almond butter and dates and cook over the stove. Then I blend it all in my Vitamix and serve it with cinnamon for a kind of breakfast pudding. This diet gets more fun every day and others say I've inspired them to make changes too.I get so many compliments on my hair now. It used to be so dry I'd try to avoid washing it too much, for fear that it would totally frizz out. Because of the wonderful nuts and seeds in my diet, it's lovely now and has natural waves.
