Bill lost 20 pounds, with it went his sleep apena and high cholesterol
In the past, my wife and I were the perfect example of what happens when you are active, but don't watch what you eat. Now I hope we can be the example of what happens when you approach your health in a dual way; when you eat right and exercise.
In 2009, a day after her birthday my wife had a heart attack and two stents. I thought I should be the one in the hospital. I had my blood tested after she came home from the hospital. Not to my surprise, my total cholesterol was 248, LDL was 198, triglycerides 121, and HDL was 26. I'm 5ft. 8in. and weighed 175 pounds. Along with the lab results was a note to make an appointment with my doctor.
Having heard Dr. Fuhrman on a local talk radio show I remembered he said you could lower your cholesterol with diet. I logged on to his website and bought Cholesterol Protection For Life along with LDL Protect. I received the book and read half the book that night and the rest the next morning. I then headed straight to the book store and bought Eat To Live. Then I went to the grocery store and bought what we needed to eat and started the plan.
We are lucky enough to have a really cool doctor. I went into her office with both books and knew what pages I wanted to share with her. She was very excited and said I should return in six weeks to be re-evaluated. I love to cook and told my wife that this was a chance for us to get to try meals we'd never had before. So far, the eating program has been wonderful. We did allow ourselves a little bit of white meat chicken once a week.
By the fourth night on the program, my wife thought I'd passed in my sleep because I wasn't snoring. Turns out I was fine, just not snoring. My sleep apnea was bad enough that I had an Uvulectomy and have regretted it ever since. After only four days eating healthy without salt I wasn't snoring.
I went back to the doctor 20 pounds lighter to have my cholesterol checked. My total cholesterol went from 248 to 157, a 36 percent drop. My LDL went from 198 to 107, a 45.9 percent drop. HDL dropped from 26 to 24. Triglycerides from 121. During this time, my wife dropped 15 pounds. Her total cholesterol went from 135 to 115, a 14 percent drop. LDL went from 75 to 46, a 38 percent drop. HDL went from 30 to 31 and triglycerides went from 184 to 148.
Thank you Dr. Fuhrman and staff for all you do.
