Jim's Story

When Jim asked his cardiologist about a diet change instead of  blood pressure medication, the doctor agreed, he was referred to Eat To Live; now his blood pressure is steadily declining

I have been a runner for the last forty years and considered myself very fit. But during the past six or seven years my athletic performance has been declining. I thought it was just my age of seventy-six. But, in addition, my blood pressure was increasing and I was putting on a lot of body fat especially around the waist (weight 175 pounds).

Runs that used to be enjoyable were becoming a chore. Then, one night in January 2016, I woke up about 4:00 am with a very rapid heartbeat which I never experienced before. My primary care physician recommended a cardiologist who checked me out with a stress test. He recommended that I start a blood pressure lowering medication. I replied that I would like to explore other options like diet. At that point his eyes lit up and he said that's easy "If it doesn't come out of the ground don't eat it."

He said if I followed this plan within five to six months my blood pressure would be normal (was 155-160/80). The next day I followed up with his nurse to get some more details and she referred me to Eat To Live. I bought the book and got going.

The results have been amazing; blood pressure now 135/75 and steadily declining, weight is now 158 pounds and should level out at 155 (my weight when I was 21). In short everything is improving. My skin, the quality of my sleep, my mood, running is becoming enjoyable again and I'm never hungry.

I must admit it was tough ramping up, getting rid of the proceeded foods and sweets, but as luck would have it I started right at the beginning of Lent which made it somewhat easier. I'm sold. I want to keep running tip I'm 100 and this is the answer. Thanks a million for getting the word out.
