Donna's Story

Donna and her husband are achieving their health goals: weight loss, normal blood pressure and feeling better  

My husband and I both started Eat To Live after my doctor recommended the program. We purchased the book and were amazed at so many success stories in the book. My goals were: (1) lose approximately 100-125 pounds; (2) stop two medications for high blood pressure; (3) feel better overall. My husband only wanted to lose 15-20 pounds and has no other medical issues.

We followed the program for six weeks without any cravings. I am thrilled to report that at the beginning of week seven, I lost 21 pounds and hubby lost 16 pounds. Even better is that at my recent checkup my blood pressure was 117/72 and my doctor said I could stop one of the meds. He also said after about another 15-20 pounds, he would most likely stop the other medication. We are now mostly doing the 90 percent plan, having fish, chicken or beef about twice a week. I am continuing to lose (a little slower) and my current total after ten weeks is 25 pounds.

My clothes are now loose and my husband is keeping our alteration lady busy taking in his pants. My joint pain is greatly reduced and I also have more energy each day. I am enjoying vegetables I probably would have never tried before and have enjoyed many of the recipes in the book. It's been fun to "get creative" with spices and like the results.

We have told many friends about the plan and are firm believers in a plant based diet. Thank you Dr. Fuhrman.
