No Cook Strawberry Oatmeal To Go

You do have time for breakfast. Combine oats, seeds and non-dairy milk in a portable cup and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, stir in some fruit and nuts and you’re ready to roll.

Ingredients

1/3 cup old fashioned rolled oats
1 tablespoon chia seeds
2/3 cup unsweetened soy, hemp or almond milk
1 cup fresh or thawed frozen strawberries, sliced (see note)
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts

Instructions:

Place the oats and chia seeds in a bowl or portable cup, add non-dairy milk and let sit for 1 hour or overnight. In Stir in sliced strawberries and walnuts.

Note: Other berries, cherries or sliced peaches may also be used.

I love the ratio of minimal oats to maximal fruit...tastes like dessert for breakfast. I prefer chia or hemp seeds to the flax.

Nope. Just put oatmeal and milk in a sealed bowl or Tupperware in the fridge at night and in the morning it's ready to go. So easy and tastes great!

at night bring water to boil, turn off and put in in rest of ingredients, put in fridge and just pick it up and go next day

I make something similar with kefir and I add a banana. You can also make it with steal cut oats if you like the texture. This is a fabulous fast breakfast.

Sounds good. I've just whipped up a batch for tomorrow with some cinnamon and all spice. Has anyone tried this heated up in the microwave?

Yes I have put it in the microwave after I let it soak for 30 minutes..... I warmed it up for 30-40 seconds.... I made mine with blueberries and I used Chia Seeds.... I didn't like it cold, so I warmed mine up.

I make mine in a glass mason jar. When I have the time, I warm to room temperature or a bit more by warming the jar in a water bath over the stove. I doesn't cook the oats it just warms them up.

So good! Had this for breakfast this morning and it was delicious! The nuts and strawberries add such great texture and tastes this is going to be a regular breakfast for me! So easy!

I've been doing this with frozen peaches for years, and add some cinnamon at night also...I call it Peach Pie Breakfast - the walnuts and soy (or other healthy) milk give the flaky crust taste...SO good and filling...you can zap it for a few seconds or if your commute is long like my husband's it's "ready" when you get to your desk/job site!

This says it is diabetes reversal food but it has 9 grams of sugar.  Is this sugar safe?

The sugar is from the fruit ... No Sugar Added!  It's all nautral sugar from the fruit .... Try it with Blueberries and Chia seeds, after soaking it for 30 minutes or over night, put it in the microwave 30-40 seconds... MY FAVORITE!

Since the sugar is in the whole fruit it is slowly absorbed as your body processes the structure of the plant along with it.  If it were just 9 grams of granulated sugar, for instance, it would shoot right into your system and spike blood sugar.  Read Dr. Fuhrman's information on macro- and micro-nutrients from whole, intact plants and it may just blow your mind and re-arrange how you look at sugar, fat, etc...I know it blew my mind!

Easy it make!  My favorite is Blueberry Oatmeal and I like to put it in the microwave for 30-40 seconds!  I'm diabetic and I can't believe that it taste so good without adding sugar!!!

This was pretty good.  Fairly basic, but tasty.  I would rate it about a 3 or 4 out of 5.  It needs a little something more, but I'm not sure what.  More flavor definitely.  It's just a little bland.

So quick and easy to make.  Recipes like this is why there is no excuse for eating poorly; especially breakfast.  I thaw frozen strawberries the night before.  The strawberry juices sweeten the oatmeal too.
