Richard lost 90 pounds and realized the health benefits of focusing on food for medicine  

Following Dr. Fuhrman’s G-BOMBS  guidelines along with exercise, and taking supplements has turned me into a new person. Three years ago I weighed 290 pounds, was on medication for high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and triglycerides and did not feel good.  I did not understand, or accept, what I ate and my lifestyle had a major effect on my health.  I almost never exercised and felt tired most of the time.  My HDL was 20, triglycerides were over 500, and LDL was over 200 and blood sugar over 100. That was when I made a decision to change my life and follow Dr. Fuhrman's Nutritarian program.  I cut out all red meat, all fast and fried foods, processed foods, anything with sugar and high fat foods. In exchange I focused on nuts, healthy fats, vegetables, beans, fruits, whole grains, herbs and the right mix of supplements.  I also became interested in competing in 5K races and trained for those every other day.

Now, three years later, I lost 90 pounds, have a blood sugar under 70, off all meds, HDL is 65, LDL is 68 and triglycerides are 80. I am able to run a 5k in 30 minutes. It's amazing how much more you will get out of life when you use food for medicine.  You think better, feel better, need less sleep, have more energy and rarely get sick.  Focus on natural, unprocessed foods and put vegetables at the top of your food list.  Once you start and make these changes your body will get addicted on how much better you feel and you will never want to go back.
