Many individuals who follow the Nutritarian diet write to Dr. Fuhrman about their success. Keep in mind that results vary from person to person. As always, consult your physician if you have a medical history and/or condition that may warrant individual recommendations.
Lesa is thrilled to have lowered her blood pressure in just six weeks, and she and her doctor are confident she will soon be able to stay off cholesterol meds
I took one month prior to starting the Nutritarian diet style to really study the Eat To Live book and let the ideas sink in. I think the real "aha" moment was reading the success stories that related to getting off certain medications. I have never really been extremely overweight, but I did lose thirteen pounds so far. My concern was that I have been taking blood pressure and cholesterol medicine for ten years and was worried about the long term effects.
I was already working out and eating a fairly low fat diet, and changing to the Nutritarian diet has been much easier than I could ever imagine! There have been no cravings at all, it’s really amazing. I feel more energized; my skin is so much smoother.
When I started this diet just six weeks ago I was taking 360 mg of verapamil for my blood pressure, I have already been able to lower the does to 240mg. I was also taking the largest dose of cholesterol med at 80mg, after talking to my doctor and, seeing my weight loss so far, and discussing my diet plan, he has agreed I could go off my cholesterol med for two months and see how the numbers change. We are both convinced that they will lower.
