Losing 65 pounds Sara went from size 18 to size 10 and friends tell her face is glowing
I am 43 years old and 5ft. 2in. I started Dr. Fuhrman's eating plan weighing 220 pounds and lost 65 pounds. I now weigh 150 to 155 pounds and have gone from a size 18 to a size 10. I am a wife and mother of two pre-teen daughters. I work full time and attend college in the evening. An amazing transformation happened in my life. A friend of mine came over one day with her blender and strange looking green smoothies. She wanted me to taste them. I am open to new things so I tried it and was hooked. She said she and her husband lost about 20 pounds following the dietary plan in Dr. Fuhrman’s book Eat To Live.
She gave me the book, and I read it cover to cover, slowly incorporating the recommended changes into my life. I don't have time for complicated measuring and tracking of everything I ate, but this plan is simple and easy to follow. The first week I started drinking smoothies and had a mid-morning snack, a handful of almonds The second week I eliminated bread and dairy, added a vegetable to lunch and dinner and so forth.
I made this a way of life, not a temporary diet change. I purchased Eat For Health and read it from cover to cover. I added many of the recipes to our weekly menu plan, and my family has also adopted this healthier eating lifestyle. I realize I am not at the ideal weight for my height at this point, but I am very proud of the noticeable change in my health and my appearance. My very new size 10 jeans are beginning to feel big already and I know I will soon be in a size 8. Eat To Live has changed not just my life but my family's. We are eating our way to great health without ever feeling hungry or deprived.
My family doctor was concerned about my health and I had avoided visiting her office because I knew she would lecture me about my numbers. After losing the weight and feeling better I went back to her. She said “I don’t know what you have been doing, but keep doing it." I left her office with a smile on my face not worried about having to return for bad news as my most current blood tests have favorable numbers. triglycerides: 92, cholesterol total: 168, HDL 54, LDL 96, CHOL/HDLC ratio: 3.1, blood pressure: 112/65, glucose 89.My friends tell me the black bags under my eyes have disappeared and my face is glowing. I never noticed and didn’t know how truly unhealthy I was before starting the Eat To Live plan. I feel so great. I have started exercising and have walked in two 5K events, improving my time each time (first time 60 minutes, second was 47 minutes). I am planning to train to run the next 5K in about 30 minutes. This is all due to the Eat To Live plan.
