Many individuals who follow the Nutritarian diet write to Dr. Fuhrman about their success. Keep in mind that results vary from person to person. As always, consult your physician if you have a medical history and/or condition that may warrant individual recommendations.
Martie is determined to live to a healthy old age like her mother and lost 50 pounds
A year ago I made the decision to live like my mother, as opposed to dying like my father. My mother is 90 years old, but looks and acts as though she is in her late 60's. She has eight children, does not take prescription medications, primarily eats a whole food diet, works out at the gym four days a week, lives on her own, and makes all of her own life decisions. My father died twenty years ago. During the last fifteen years of his life he had a triple bypass surgery, a double bypass surgery, high blood pressure, diabetes, and ultimately died from kidney failure.
During the past year, I have followed Dr. Fuhrman's Eat To Live diet and have told many others about his books and common sense philosophy for health. I lost over fifty pounds, lowered my blood pressure, and returned to the ranks of the physically fit. I now plan on running a half marathon with my daughter. Physically, I feel as I did in my thirties.
I first read Dr. Fuhrman's book in 2007 and shared it with my sister. At that time, she lost about twenty pounds, and to this day remains on his program. I also lost a considerable amount of weight, but the stress of the economy took its toll and my weight rebounded. In 2011, I decided to reread not only his Eat To Live book, but all his books. I became serious about my commitment to myself and to live like my mother. It is in my power to be healthy, not to become a statistic in the category of chronic diseases, and not to place a burden on the increasing cost of medical interventions. I am committed to wellness. There are times when I do fall off the wagon, but instead of staying off I look forward to getting back on. I thank Dr. Fuhrman for his commitment to us.
