Many individuals who follow the Nutritarian diet write to Dr. Fuhrman about their success. Keep in mind that results vary from person to person. As always, consult your physician if you have a medical history and/or condition that may warrant individual recommendations.
Larry lost 55 pounds and says it was effortless as he enjoys the food so much
I must thank Dr. Fuhrman for his part in my remarkable transformation. I had eased up to 305 pounds in my first 60 years including the usual frustrating bouts of dieting, losing, and gaining over and over. I had accepted my limited mobility and expanding waist line as a part of aging. An essential part of my transformation began with Qigong practice, an exercise which I began on a daily basis before work. This simple easy exercise began my weight loss story by raising my metabolism just enough to start the journey. I noticed that I had lost a few pounds and was surprised. I was still eating a traditional meat and potatoes diet and really heavy in meat. After a steady loss over the next few years, I then saw Dr. Fuhrman on PBS. I was still at 232 pounds but was happy to be as healthy as I was.
My partner and I decided to try the Nutritarian style and recorded my weight progress while enjoying the fabulous recipes and food choices suggested. The results have been impressive as I had previously stalled at 230 pounds. Since starting the Nutritarian diet style, I have dropped an additional 55 pounds and leveled off at a comfy 175 pounds.
My transformation was not difficult. It was actually closer to effortless as the positive changes were exciting, uplifting and delicious. The most interesting part is how easily my preferences for healthy foods developed. I do not miss my previous diet nor was the shift difficult. Awakening the innate wisdom of my body was the key as aligning food choices with what my body really likes is the process. Once we know what really works it is almost impossible to behave differently.
