Christine's battle with epileptic seizures are GONE because she follows the Eat to Live program!
Christine
I am in my early 40's, 5'4". Before I discovered Eat to Live, I weighed between 165 and 170 pounds. I tried many times to lose weight. I have also suffered from epileptic seizures the past 10 years. After starting Eat to Live, I lost 20 pounds very quickly. My weight is now 145 pounds. This year, my goal is to lose another 20 pounds and keep fit.
I came across Dr. Fuhrman's program in another book. Initially, my thought was to 'experiment' with the Eat to Live program. After my success the first 6 weeks, I decided to embrace it and make it part of my life.
Before Eat to Live, my epilepsy medication did not completely control my nocturnal seizures. I was experiencing a seizure every 2-4 weeks. I was always in fear of having a seizure at night while sleeping. I was not as productive as I wanted to be during the day because I was afraid I would become sleep deprived and trigger a seizure. It was very hard.
I am so happy to share that I have not had a seizure in over a year! I have been following the Eat to Live program closely with no animal products at all. I have reduced my phenobarbital dosage by one-third, from 180mg to 120mg. I am still taking 200mg of Zonegran. I am hoping to continue to be seizure-free so I won't need to take any medication. I also feel much more alert during the day and sleep much better.
My biggest challenge is to convince my family to get 'on board' with Eat to Live. My husband and 6 children are not following the plan like I am. It is hard when the kids bake cookies or my husband brings home sugar laden sweets. I make a lot of soups, stir fries, salads, and smoothies. It is time consuming to shop and keep fresh fruit in the house, especially in the winter. I purchase most of my produce at Costco (discount warehouse store) where I can buy things in large quantities. My vita-mix blender is an essential tool in my kitchen. I don't think I could have stuck to the plan without it.
I hope that my experience is not unique and that many other people will be relieved from having seizures by following Dr. Fuhrman's plan.
