One of the most valuable tools that Dr. Fuhrman uses to assess a patient's health is to review the results of a recent laboratory blood test. Results are used to pinpoint, monitor or determine treatment, or to screen for undiagnosed conditions.

Even those eating a healthy diet can not always be sure they are getting sufficient nutrients. Specifically, vitamin D, B12, and Omega-3 fatty acids are not easily obtained through dietary sources and should be checked on a regular basis.

Dr. Fuhrman is pleased to offer attendees at this year's 2009 Health Getaway the opportunity to take advantage of an optional Specialized Blood Testing and Analysis Package. For an additional fee, attendees can have their blood drawn during the Getaway, receive their results via mail and, if desired, review their test results with Dr. Fuhrman in a scheduled phone consultation.*

This specialized testing will require 3 vials of your blood to be drawn at the Getaway. Your blood will be screened for the following:

A. Fatty Acid Lipid Profile
B. Cholesterol
C. HDL
D. LDL
E. Triglycerides
F. Folate
G. Homocysteine
H vitamin D
I. vitamin B12
J. MMA (Methylmalonic Acid)
K. Glucose
L. Iron
M. Ferritin

You can expect to receive your blood test results 4-6 weeks** after the Health Getaway. Once you receive your results, call Dr. Fuhrman's medical office at 908- 237-0200 to schedule a 10 minute phone consultation, if you wish to discuss the results with Dr. Fuhrman.

The fee for the Blood Testing and Analysis package is $210.00 if billed through insurance with a non-HMO carrier. Proof of insurance must be provided at time of registration.

If you do not have insurance coverage or have insurance with a HMO carrier, the fee is $590.00.

These fees include the blood drawing, processing, analysis, and the 10 minute phone consultation with Dr. Fuhrman. Payment in full is required at the time of registration.

You must register by Friday, June 12th to participate in the Blood Testing and Analysis Package.

To Register:

Step 1. Complete the ‘Individual Registration Form' for each attendee interested in participating in the Blood Testing.

Step 2. Fax your completed ‘Individual Registration Form' to the attention of Michele Daly at 908-237-0210. (Michele's phone number is 908-237-0200). If you are billing through insurance, also fax a copy of your insurance card (both front and back images) with the policy holder's name, along with your registration form..

Step 3. IMPORTANT: To complete the registration process you must submit your payment for the Blood Testing and Analysis Package:

Sign-up sheets will be available at the Getaway Welcome Reception on Thursday evening, June 25th to schedule your specific time slot.

For optimum results, the Blood Test requires a minimum 8 hour fast. Do not eat or drink anything (besides consuming water) prior to having your blood drawn.

Please note that we will be unable to accommodate requests to sign
up for this Blood Testing and Analysis after the June 12th deadline.

* Phone consultations included in this package will be limited to 10 minutes and are intended only for reviewing blood test results.
