Jay Benson, D.O.

Dr. Jay Benson, D.O., the patient care director at Dr. Fuhrman's Medical Associates has success in treating diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and many others by using this unique nutritional approach. As a board certified family medicine physician, Dr. Jay Benson, D.O. has experience with the variety and complexity of problems that can present in a family medicine office, but also has the experience and ability to help his patients achieve health and wellness rather than merely treating the symptoms of their diseases.

Dr. Benson embraces Dr. Fuhrman's brand of nutritional excellence. He is well versed in modern high-tech medicine as well as the nutritional and natural methods utilized at Dr. Fuhrman's Medical Associates. He sees the majority of patients at the Flemington office and works side-by-side with Dr. Fuhrman on nutritional research, lecturing, and answering questions on Dr. Fuhrman's Ask the Doctor forums.

Dr. Benson has developed a core competency in the early detection and treatment of cardiovascular disease. He uses a unique combination of non-invasive testing methods to assess overall cardiovascular health. He combines a Carotid IMT (Intima Media Thickness) test, the most accurate noninvasive screening method available for predicting the risk of heart attack or stroke, along with an EndoPAT test, a simple finger sensor test sensitive enough to pick up early cardiovascular disease. Dr. Benson recommends these tests as a preferred non-invasive, more accurate alternative to a cardiac catheterization (coronary angiogram) or stress test. Dr. Benson graduated from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and finished his residency training at Hunterdon Medical Center in New Jersey. Dr. Benson lives with his wife and three children in Flemington, New Jersey.

Kathleen Mullin, M.D.

Dr. Mullin is board certified in internal medicine, and specializes in nutritional and natural medicine. She also has additional training and experience as an emergency room physician.

Dr. Mullin graduated from Temple University School of Medicine. She is a member of the American College of Physicians and a member with advanced training of the Institute for Functional Medicine.

Dr. Mullin answers questions in the Ask The Doctor forum in the member center at DrFuhrman.com and works with the other doctors documenting nutritional research. Occassionally she will see patients in the office or schedule a phone consultation with patients..

Dr. Mullin is Dr. Fuhrman's associate because of her experience and broad knowledge of nutrition, dietary interventions, and natural medicine and the appropriate limited use of conventional medicine. All the physicians at Dr. Fuhrman's Medical Associates work together to find solutions to maximize the opportunity for reversing chronic medical conditions and setting each patient on a path toward lifelong health.

Adam Fiterstein, M.D.

Adam Fiterstein M.D. is a New York licensed physician, and a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and a Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatrics. He received his undergraduate degree in nutrition from Cornell University and attended St. Georges University School of Medicine. Dr. Fiterstein completed a dual residency program at Staten Island University Hospital and Downstate University Medical Center.

He has also held teaching positions with both Downstate University School of Medicine and Stonybrook University School of Medicine. He has worked in Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics for over 10 years. Additionally he has worked with the medical units of both the FDNY and the NYPD and is a member of the American Society of Internal Medicine and New York State Medical Society as well as a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine.

Dr. Fiterstein is well versed in modern high-tech medicine as well as the nutritional and natural methods utilized with Dr. Fuhrman's Medical Associates. Dr. Fiterstein is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and lives on Long Island with his wife and their three boys.

Michael Klaper, M.D.

Dr. Klaper is a physician with training in surgery, anesthesiology, orthopedics, emergency room medicine and obstetrics and embraces high nutrient eating and Dr. Fuhrman's brand of nutritional excellence and natural healing. Dr. Klaper assists in answering questions on the Ask The Doctor forum. Dr. Klaper is the Director of the non-profit Institute of Nutrition Education and Research and has performed research on the pros and cons of vegan nutrition and other dietary styles of health enthusiasts. He also is a member of the Nutrition Task Force of the American Medical Student Association.

Linda Popescu, MS, RD

Linda is a Registered Dietitian with graduate degrees in both Nutrition and Food Science. As Dr. Fuhrman's Research Assistant, she works with him on upcoming book projects and helps to investigate nutrition related topics. She has assisted Dr. Fuhrman in developing his nutrient density scoring system for foods and recipes.

Deana Ferreri, Ph.D.

Deana was trained as a research scientist in the field of cardiovascular physiology. While studying the cardiovascular system, she became interested in nutritional approaches for prevention and treatment of heart disease. After completing her degree, Deana wished to integrate her passion for nutrition with her background in science. Deana assists in answering questions on the Ask The Doctor forum and writes research-supported articles for the Disease Proof blog and DrFuhrman.com.
